The valve vault shall be of reinforced concrete construction, rectangular in shape, and shall be provided with a minimum 36-inch-by-36-inch aluminum access hatch, aluminum ladder, grab bars, etc.

The floor of the vault shall be sloped one-quarter inch per foot towards a sump pit 18 inches long by 18 inches wide by 18 inches deep on one corner of the vault. (Design Guideline DG-08 § 6.1, dated August 2006)
