(a) To identify the procedures for settling claims for damages caused by problems with WSSC-maintained water and/or sewer lines.

(b) The Annotated Code of Maryland allows that WSSC “may” pay to settle sewer backup claims occurring on or after July 1, 1979, and for water main claims occurring on or after October 1, 1999. The standard procedure codified in this chapter is adopted pursuant to the authority found in the Public Utilities Article, § 17-407, Annotated Code of Maryland.
