As these types of stations pump into a distribution system with elevated storage tanks, the primary control shall be level control. Levels in elevated storage tanks shall be transmitted by telemetering to the pumping stations. If level sensing (primary control) is lost due to communications failure, the pumping station shall operate on local pressure sensing point at the pumping station discharge line which is not dependent on telemetering (secondary control).
