1.72.040 Policy.
(a) As prohibited by WSSC 1.70.180, an employee may not have outside employment while employed with WSSC if the outside employment:
(1) Conflicts with the employee’s normal WSSC work shift; or
(2) Creates a conflict of interest or the appearance of a conflict of interest.
(b) Unless the Board of Ethics grants a waiver, an employee may not have outside employment with a business that:
(1) Is regulated by WSSC;
(2) Has entered a contract with WSSC; or
(3) Is a subcontractor to any business that has a contract with WSSC.
(c) Unless the Board of Ethics grants a waiver, employees may not hold any other employment relationship that would impair the impartiality and independence of judgment of the employee in the performance of WSSC duties.
(d) A person who is engaged in outside employment that is planned to continue after joining WSSC shall file the designated request form within 30 days of joining the Commission. (Res. 2022-2306)
